'We're all guilty of backseat driving' as parents, according to Boman Irani, whose first film as a director is The Mehta Boys.

The Mehta Boys, directed by Boman Irani and starring Avinash Tiwary, will be available on Amazon Prime Video.

In his 30s, he started taking pictures, at 43, he started acting in movies, and at 65, he is directing for the first time. 'Conventional' timetables are not followed by Boman Irani. Prior to the premiere of his first film as director, The Mehta Boys, on Amazon Prime Video this week, the actor-director talks with HT about the movie and other topics.

A father and son, who don't get along, are compelled to spend time together under strange circumstances in the novel The Mehta Boys.Boman discusses the movie's premise and remarks, "It's an easier film to connect for the audience because it is so much more relatable." According to the actor, viewers will quickly identify similarities between the characters and their own life. "They will think, 'That's my uncle, that's my dad. That's how my dad and brother act."

When Boman was just six months old, his father passed away. Despite never having met the guy, his debut film explores the intimate dynamics of a father-son bond. "I never met my father," he chuckles. Perhaps I am experiencing a sense of emptiness. I'm not sure. Not that I'm attempting to sound psychological.I found the story captivating, and if you did too, the reasons are the same.

"A movie must be personal."
"Even if David Fincher is making a Seven and he has never been a part of a serial killer's life, it still has to be personal," Boman jokes when asked what makes the movie personal.

"The relatability is so evident; it actually becomes easy to make it consumable for audiences with a heart," Boman says.

Even though the father-son bond wasn't based on his own life, Boman claims he pulled it from reality. "I did an insane amount of interviews," he recalls. I can't tell who they are.Backseat driving is something we've all done, and I've taken from a lot of personal experience."

Boman Irani, Avinash Tiwary, Shreya Chaudhry, and Puja Sarup are the main cast members of The Mehta Boys. On February 7, the movie will be made available on Amazon Prime Video.
