The government would continue to raise concerns over the abuse of illegal migrants repatriated to India, he claimed, adding that there are no records of the government objecting to the deportation of Indians in shackles in 2012.
"The description by the EAM (External Affairs Ministry) of the standard operating procedure relating to the use of restraints which has been communicated to us by US authorities including the immigration and customs enforcement," Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said in reference to the deportation of illegal Indian immigrants from the United States. He also mentioned that the authorities had just received information about 198 individuals.
