Filmmaker Vinay Sapru, who co-directed Sanam Teri Kasam with Radhika Rao, revealed that Salman Khan would have played the protagonist if the movie had been produced in the 1990s. Vinay referred to Salman as the "ultimate romantic hero of the era" in an interview with India Today.

"It would have been Salman, without a doubt," he stated when asked who would have starred in the movie if it had been created in the 1990s. The way he holds the child and stares at her, the purity in his eyes,the innocence of mind and feeling—he would be our ideal Inder and the ideal romantic hero of his day. Because he is so unique, Salman Sir makes his co-star look extraordinary when he is in a movie. Anybody we could have placed in his place would be unique, and it would undoubtedly be a rookie. His leading females are elevated just by his presence. He was the 1990s' most romantic hero!

Vinay Sapru gives Salman praise.
He continued by praising Salman, saying, "Sir, who wouldn't want to work with Salman? He is an institution in and of himself, as Radhika mam states. He is unrivaled in longevity, having been a superstar for more than 30 years. All we need is the proper script at the right moment.We would be honored to collaborate with our mentor once more, whenever he chooses.

In the 2005 movie Lucky: No Time For Love, Salman and Vinay collaborated. Vinay and Radhika wrote and directed the romantic movie. Sneha Ullal also starred in it.
