Batter told to "shut up" Sunday after Indian anchor slammed for demeaning Babar Azam on live TV: "Zero ethics."

The batter was instructed to "shut up" Sunday after an Indian anchor was criticized for demeaning Babar Azam on live television: "Zero morals and ethics."

Despite scoring a half-century, Babar Azam received criticism for his slow knock, and several fans took issue with the anchor's use of the word "Bobzy."

A lot of people are upset over Babar Azam's slow innings in Pakistan's Champions Trophy 2025 opener against New Zealand. The former Pakistani captain was criticized for his lack of purpose in a difficult chase of 321 runs, after scoring 64 off 90 balls in the 60-run defeat.

An Indian anchor used the name "Bobzy" to refer to Babar in a seemingly contemptuous way, sparking some heated reactions as experts analyzed his performance.

In a Cricbuzz segment, the host called Babar "Bobzy" when talking about his knock. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was clearly perplexed by the remark and was unfamiliar with the moniker, which is well-known among his supporters in Pakistan. Perplexed, Sehwag answered, "Who is Bobzy?"

Nevertheless, the way the anchor phrased the query became a talking point after Sehwag's moment of perplexity. The sarcastic tone of the speech virtually mocked Babar's exaggerated persona among his followers.

Fans were upset by what they saw as an unwarranted jab at their star batter, and the video swiftly went viral.

But the fundamental problem with Babar's form is still very much alive. The 29-year-old has had trouble turning starts into significant totals; his most recent ODI century came against Nepal in August 2023.

Given that Pakistan's Champions Trophy campaign is currently in jeopardy, his decline in performance has drawn more attention. Babar is under increasing pressure to silence his critics as the squad needs to win their next two group games, including a pivotal match against India.

India's Champions Trophy campaign got off to a strong start on Thursday when they defeated Bangladesh by a commanding six wickets in Dubai. Pakistan arrived in Dubai on Thursday for the match against their bitter rivals, which will be played at the same location on February 23.
