Regena Cassandra discusses the evolving Indian commercial film industry as well as her latest movie, Vidaamuyarchi.
After a long break, Regena Cassandra is back performing for large crowds. The actor has performed in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films. Although Regina began her Telugu career working with entertainers, she has since taken on slightly more complex roles. She claims that she has tried to strike a balance between the two with her most recent album, Vidaamuyarchi. Regena discusses the Ajith film and how OTT has impacted Indian cinema in an exclusive interview with HT.Regarding Vidaamuyarchi
Regarding Vidaamuyarchi, Regena remarks, "This is not your run of the mill commercial film." "It's massy, but there's a certain tone to the film that appeals to everyone else as well," she adds. 'Leave your mind at home and just come and have fun' isn't the only option. There is undoubtedly enjoyment involved, but there is much more to this.
After two years, Ajith made his big-screen comeback with the movie. "We haven't seen him on screen in a long time. And many things are coming together. Regena explains what inspired her to take this film: "It's Ajit sir, Trisha, and the whole setup."
Regarding the modifications in commercial film
The actor claims that because the genre has evolved over time, it required some time to return to mainstream cinema. "I'm constantly trying to land good roles. That is, regardless of the projects I am working on or the things I am examining. However, from the start of my Telugu career, the majority of my employers have been commercial firms. Now, commercial film formats have evolved over time as well. "In movies, there's a lot more action and violence, and you don't see the women establishing that atmosphere and attempting to put out the fire," Regena says.
Regena says that the one shift in commercial cinema has been the rise of supporting characters from the shadows."What has happened is that we are abruptly returning to our previous activities, which involved creating characters and storylines before including a commercial element. It must be with the filmmakers, in my opinion. "You can see that it's getting there, even though it's not all movies," she adds. The actor attributes this shift to the nation's OTT explosion.
In addition to Regena, Ajith, Trisha Krishnan, and Arjun Sarja are the main cast members of Vidaamuyarchi. Despite receiving favorable reviews when it first came out, the Magizh Thirumeni-directed movie has had a lackluster box office performance. Vidaamuyarchi has made little over ₹100 crore at the box office since its February 6 release.
