Regarding Rahul Gandhi's "Trump inauguration invite" remark, S Jaishankar chastises him, saying, "Our PM does not attend such events."

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar criticized Rahul Gandhi for his assertion in the Lok Sabha over Donald Trump's inauguration invitation, claiming the opposition leader purposefully misrepresented his December 2024 trip to the United States.

The Indian prime minister does not attend such events, according to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who responded to Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's 'Donald Trump inauguration invite' remark on Monday.

Gandhi asserted that Foreign Minister S Jaishankar was dispatched to the US to invite the Indian prime minister to the US president's "coronation" during a debate on the Motion of Thanks on the president's speech on January 31.

S. Jaishankar responded to Gandhi's statement by saying that Rahul Gandhi's falsehoods harm the country overseas.

S Jaishankar served as Prime Minister Narendra Modi's special envoy during Trump's inauguration on January 20. According to reports, he also brought a letter for the president from PM Modi.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition, purposefully misrepresented my December 2024 trip to the United States. I went to see the Biden Administration's NSA and Secretary of State. In addition, to preside over a meeting of our Consuls General. In a post on X, Jaishankar stated, "The incoming NSA-designate met with me during my stay."

The minister blasted the Congress leader and claimed that there was never any discussion of an invitation about the PM.

As everyone knows, our PM doesn't go to these kinds of gatherings. In actuality, Special Envoys typically represent India. Rahul Gandhi may have been lying for political reasons. However, they harm the country overseas," Jaishankar continued.

In retaliation, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju demanded that Gandhi provide evidence to support his assertions against the foreign policy of the government.

Trump and Modi talk
After taking the oath of office as the 47th president of the United States, Narendra Modi called President Donald Trump last week to offer his congratulations.

It was a pleasure to talk to President @realDonaldTrump @POTUS, my good friend. Best wishes for his historic second term. We are dedicated to a reliable and mutually productive collaboration. In an X post, Modi declared, "We will cooperate for the benefit of our people and for world peace, prosperity, and security."
