In Kolkata, a 20-year-old medical student was discovered dead; it is believed that the suicide was caused by depression. After several unsuccessful attempts to get in touch with her, her mother found her hanging. A post-mortem is planned as part of the police inquiry into the unexplained death.
On Friday, a 20-year-old medical student from Kolkata was found dead in her hospital room. After her mother sounded the alarm, the second-year student at RG Kar Medical College was discovered hanging from the ceiling. It is suspected by the authorities that she may have had depression. On Friday night, Ivy Prasad was alone herself in her room when her mother, who works as a doctor there, called her multiple times. Eventually, she became suspicious and hurried to the Kamarhati.
She did not return calls, even after several attempts. She was hanging when her mother finally forced open the door. After being taken to the hospital, she was pronounced dead, a top Barrackpore Commissionerate police officer told the Times of India.
"No suicide note was discovered."
The victim was taken to the hospital right away, but when they got there, they pronounced him dead. Although there was no suicide note discovered, the authorities believe Prasad may have been depressed.
An 'unnatural death' case has been filed by the police, and an investigation follows. Her body has also been sent to the College of Medicine and Sagore Dutta Hospital for a post-mortem by the Kamarhati Police.
Returning to concentration, RG Kar
The event occurs as RG Kar Hospital is still under investigation for the 2024 rape and killing of a trainee physician. On January 20, a Sealdah Civil and Criminal Court found Sanjoy Roy guilty of the horrible act and sentenced him to life in jail. Many medical professionals, particularly doctors, have expressed outrage at the decision and have called for the death penalty.
In light of ongoing concerns regarding the way the inquiry was carried out, several have also called for a re-examination of the case. Others, including the victim's parents, maintain that there were multiple additional offenders (besides Sanjay Roy) who escaped punishment.
