Elon Musk claims to be giving Donald Trump "tech support" and making sure executive orders are carried out.

Elon Musk's comments were made the day after the White House made it clear that he does not have the official power to decide on any matters pertaining to the government.

In their first joint interview, Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump told Fox News that Musk is there to give the Republican leader "technical support" as the co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Musk informed the media source that ensuring the correct execution of presidential executive orders is one of the DOGE team's primary responsibilities.

The Tesla CEO claimed to be there to "provide the president with technology support" while sporting the phrase "tech support" written on his T-shirt.

Musk claimed that the president's actions reflect the "will of the people" because he is the elected representative of the people. "If bureaucracy is fighting the people and preventing the president from implementing what the people want," he continued. Then, rather than a democracy, we live in a bureaucracy.

As the White House clarifies the billionaire's role in the Trump administration, his comments take on greater relevance. Musk does not have "formal authority to make government decisions" and is not a formal employee of the DOGE, according to an official document.

Musk, a longtime Trump supporter, has been appointed co-chair of the efficiency department with the goal of dramatically reducing the federal budget, which includes mass layoffs.

Additionally, Musk advised "those worried about his power as an unelected advisor to the president" to be more concerned about the large number of unelected federal employees in the US government's "civilian workforce" in an interview with Fox News.

"I abstain from participating in political decisions."
"Trying to get a trillion dollars out of the deficit" is what the DOGE co-chair and his colleagues describe. In reality, Trump supported this as well, stating that he believes Musk "is going to find a trillion dollars"He went on to say that he thought the waste and abuse in government expenditure would only be slightly reduced.

Musk told the media outlet that he has never asked President Trump for anything and reiterated that he would step aside from any political decision involving his own companies that had anything to do with government contracts, in response to the ongoing concerns expressed about his involvement in the Trump administration and the political circuit that followed.

The White House claimed that Musk is "a non-career Special Government Employee" who holds the position of "Senior Advisor to the President" in a document made by Joshua Fisher, Director of the Office of Administration.

The document was submitted as part of a lawsuit that 14 states, including New Mexico, filed against Elon Musk.

Significantly, Musk has been in the news a lot lately, and his DOGE team has targeted the Social Security Administration and USAID, among other federal institutions.
