The forthcoming three-match ODI series against England will not include Jasprit Bumrah.
As the uncertainty surrounding Jasprit Bumrah's fitness continues to mount, he will not participate in the forthcoming three-match ODI series against England. During the Sydney Test match against Australia, the Indian speedster suffered from back spasms. He did, however, make the Indian selection for the Champions Trophy and the three ODIs.Chief selector Ajit Agarkar stated that management anticipated he will be fit for the third and final ODI against England when the selection was revealed. But when Varun Chakravarthy was added to the squad on Tuesday night, the BCCI quietly took the pacer's name off the list.
Regarding Bumrah's injury and his exclusion from the squad for the ODIs against England, the board has not provided any updates. However, given that the Champions Trophy is only two weeks away, his name being absent certainly draws attention and is concerning.
Jasprit Bumrah has already arrived at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and will spend a few days in Bengaluru, according to a Times of India story. He won't return until he receives OK from the NCA's physiotherapists.
What was said by Ajit Agarkar?
Agarkar stated that Bumrah was requested to "off-load for five weeks" during the Champions Trophy team announcement earlier in January, but he did not provide a definitive response to the pacer's issue.
"Bumrah won't be available for the opening two ODIs against England and has been instructed to take five weeks off. We are awaiting his fitness, and the medical staff will update us on his condition in early February. Agarkar had stated, "I'm sure the BCCI might just put something out, from the physio itself, regarding what his medical condition is, and we'll probably find out a bit more around that time."
For those who are unaware, all teams have until February 11 to modify their preliminary Champions Trophy squads. Now, the Indian management has eight days to decide whether or not Bumrah will play in the eight-team tournament.
