In the current fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25), India's net direct tax collection has increased by 16 percent to approximately ₹16.90 lakh crore. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) reported that mop-up from net non-corporate taxes, which mostly include personal income tax, was more than ₹8.74 lakh crore.

Between April 1, 2024, and January 12, 2025, the net corporation tax revenue was around ₹7.68 lakh crore. This fiscal year, the securities transaction tax's (STT) net collections totaled ₹44,538 crore.

Over ₹3.74 lakh crore in refunds were given out during that time, a 42.49 percent rise over the same period last year. Between April 1 and January 12, gross direct tax revenue increased by 20% to more than ₹20.64 lakh crore.

In the current fiscal year, the government has allocated ₹22.07 lakh crore to be collected through direct taxes. This comprises ₹11.87 lakh crore in personal income tax, ₹10.20 lakh crore in corporate tax, and other taxes.

According to earlier data from December 18, 2024, gross direct tax revenues increased by 20.32 percent to Rs19.21 lakh crore from Rs15.96 lakh crore in the same period in 2023. Refunds increased by 42.49 percent, while net tax receipts increased by 16.45 percent to Rs15.82 lakh crore.
