On January 27, Sridhar Vembu, the CEO of cloud software startup Zoho Corporation, revealed that Shailesh Kumar Davey, a co-founder, will take over as the company's Chief Scientist and become the new group CEO.

As the company's Chief Scientist, Sridhar Vembu also revealed in a post on social media site X that he will be in charge of research and development projects.

"I'll be leaving my position as CEO of Zoho Corp. to assume the position of Chief Scientist, where I'll be in charge of extensive research and development projects. In his post on X, Vembu stated, "Our next group CEO will be our co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey.

Shailesh Kumar Davey, who co-founded Zoho Corp with Sridhar Vembu, earned a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in metallurgy—the study of science and technology pertaining to metals and their production and purification—from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in 1992.

Shailesh Kumar Davey also holds a Master of Technology (MTech) in Industrial Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, according to his LinkedIn page.

Davey served as the vice president of engineering at ManageEngine, Zoho Corporation's IT management subsidiary, prior to being named Zoho's new CEO.

According to the news blog Analytics India Mag on Monday, Shailesh Kumar Davey has played a significant role in the engineering process of Zoho and has experience with network projects from his time at Tata-IBM.

Davey told the news portal, "We think that optimizing everything from the software to the server and the data center can provide significant value to our customers."

As the company strives to develop into artificial intelligence and machine learning, Sridhar Vembu has decided to leave his position as CEO and take on the role of Chief Scientist.

In his post on platform X, Vembu stated, "How well we navigate the R&D challenge will determine the future of our company."
