On February 2, online registration will open for entry-level classes at Delhi's private schools that fall under the economically disadvantaged, children with special needs, and economically weaker section (EWS) categories.The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) published a circular on January 3 that detailed the requirements for admission to the city's private unaided recognized schools for children with special needs (CWSN), disadvantaged groups (DG), and nursery, kindergarten (KG), and Class 1 under EWS.
According to the DoE, the online application procedure will open on February 3 and applications must be submitted by February 19. On March 3, the first round of the computerized lotteries for the chosen pupils will be revealed.
The criteria state that pupils in the EWS and DG categories must be between the ages of three and five for nursery, four and six for KG, and five and seven for Class 1 in order to be admitted as of March 31.
According to the statement, children between the ages of three and seven for nursery, four and eight for KG, and five and nine for Class 1 are eligible to apply under the more lenient age limit for CWSN.
Children from households with an income certificate from the Delhi Revenue Department who make less than ₹5 lakh a year fall under the EWS category, per DoE norms.
"Families holding Below Poverty Line (BPL) or Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration cards are also eligible for admission under these categories," said the statement.
According to the statement, children from SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), orphans, transgender children, and HIV-affected children are all included in the DG category.
Children with disabilities also need to present a disability certificate from the government. The DoE also stated that they do not need an income certificate.
