MEA: India will "take back" individuals who are "overstaying" in the US.

Indian nationals living abroad without the required paperwork would be repatriated if their nationality documents are presented, according to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

India opposes illegal immigration, particularly because it is linked to organized crime, the ministry of external affairs stated on Friday.

Randhir Jaiswal, the ministry of external affairs' (MEA) official spokesperson, stated, "We will bring back Indian nationals who are overstaying or living in a country without the required documentation, whether in the United States or elsewhere, provided the necessary documents to verify their nationality are shared with us."

"Any discussion about numbers is premature," Jaiswal said in response to a question regarding the number of individuals being repatriated from the United States during a briefing.

He was also questioned on if India's trade and industrial relations would be affected by the ongoing debates about the return of illegal immigrants from the US and the plans to do so.

"Trade and illegal migration are two different problems. We have a very clear policy, attitude, and position on illegal migration. Because illegal migration is associated with organized crime, we oppose it," Jaiswal stated.

MEA spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal discussed foreign secretary Vikram Misri's impending trip to China, stating, "This visit is going to happen on January 26 and 27." All matters of mutual relevance will be discussed during the meeting between the foreign secretary and his Chinese counterpart, the vice minister.

"This meeting stems from the agreement that the leaders came to in Kazan. Since then, we've held talks with special representatives and discussions with foreign ministers. Following the conversations, we will receive a breakdown of the topics covered. However, we'll talk about anything that interests us both," Jaiswal continued.
