Mahakumbh 2025 live: On the auspicious occasion of Paush Purnima, Maha Kumbh, which has a rare celestial alignment that happens once every 144 years, began with the 'Shahi Snan'. Devotees then started the holy dip at the Sangam, the revered confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati.

Real-time Mahakumbh 2025 updates: On the festival of Paush Purnima, the 45-day Mahakumbh Mela 2025, which is regarded as the biggest assembly on Earth, began early Monday. Under strict security, an estimated 1.5 crore (15 million) pilgrims are anticipated to take a holy bath at the Sangam, the revered meeting point of the Yamuna, Ganga, and the legendary Saraswati.

The 'Shahi Snan' on Paush Purnima, which marks a unique celestial alignment that only happens once in 144 years, kicks off the festival, according to news agency ANI. To take part in this auspicious event, devotees have flocked to the Triveni Sangam, where the three rivers converge.

With important bathing ceremonies (Shahi Snan) scheduled on January 14 (Makar Sankranti), January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), and February 3 (Basant Panchami), the Mahakumbh Mela will end on February 26.

What you need know about the arrangements is as follows:

• The Statement of CM Yogi Adityanath: Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, emphasized the significance of Maha Kumbh 2025, calling it a unique opportunity for people all over the world to witness the spiritual and cultural diversity of India and Uttar Pradesh.

• Grand yagya by Namami Gange: On Sunday, the eve of Maha Kumbh, the Namami Gange team orchestrated a grand 'yagya' at the Sangam. Thousands of participants, including more than 200 Ganga Sevadoots, pledged to protect the Ganga's flow and purity. The occasion also honored the young people of India for their contributions to the Ganga Swachhata Abhiyan.

• Safety precautions: As the 'Shahi Snan' began on Paush Purnima, signaling the beginning of Maha Kumbh, NDRF teams and Uttar Pradesh Police's water police units were deployed to guarantee the security of devotees.

• Traffic arrangements: To control traffic flow and guarantee the security of pilgrims attending the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, which got underway today, traffic police have developed comprehensive plans.

• Installation of QR codes: More than 50,000 QR codes are being installed on power poles in the 25 sectors of the Maha Kumbh region. These will assist pilgrims in locating themselves and submitting grievances regarding problems with electricity.

• Helicopter joyride: Helicopter rides that offer a bird's-eye view of Maha Kumbh are now only ₹1,296 per person. Beginning on January 13, the 7–8 minute rides will provide visitors a distinctive look into Prayagraj city and the vast Kumbh region.

• Hospitals along NH-19: For devotees heading to Maha Kumbh, three hospitals have been set up at the Aurai, Gopiganj, and Unj police stations on National Highway 19 in the Bhadohi district. On January 14, these facilities would be completely functioning, Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik said.
