Kris Gopalakrishnan, a co-founder of Infosys, is one of 18 people arrested under the SC/ST Atrocities Act.
According to news agency PTI, a case has been filed under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act against 16 people, including former IISc Director Balaram and Infosys co-founder Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan.The lawsuit was filed on Monday in response to claims that the defendants had engaged in activities that infringed against the rights of members of the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes. Prominent individuals from the academic and tech communities have been involved in the case, which has garnered a lot of attention. In accordance with the rules of the law, authorities are expected to conduct a comprehensive investigation.
As directed by the 71st City Civil and Sessions Court (CCH), the case was filed at the Sadashiva Nagar police station. Durgappa, the complainant, was a member of the Indian Institute of Science's (IISc) Centre for Sustainable Technology and a member of the tribal Bovi group.
He said he was fired from his position in 2014 after being wrongly accused in a honey trap case. He further claimed that threats and harassment based on caste were directed at him.
Govindan Rangarajan, Sridhar Warrier, Sandya Vishwswaraih, Hari K.V.S., Dasappa, Balaram P., Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K., Pradeep D. Sawkar, and Manoharan are among the other people named in the case.
