At the Special General Meeting on Sunday, it was revealed that Jay Shah, who assumed the position of ICC Chairman last year, will be replaced as the new secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India by former first-class cricketer Devajit Saikia.However, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia was chosen to serve as the Indian Cricket Board's treasurer.
Following the General Board Meeting, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla confirmed both assignments. "Devajit Saikia elected new BCCI secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia elected as BCCI treasurer," he stated to the press.
A former first-class cricket player, Saikia scored 53 runs in four games while playing for Assam in the 1990–91 season. Having served as the joint secretary of the BCCI and the secretary of the Assam Cricket Association, he brings with him experience in cricket administration. He served as the acting interim secretary of the BCCI following the election of the former secretary to the post of International Cricket Council.

Two days ago, the International Cricket Council officially resolved the Champions Trophy 2025 hosting rights issue, deciding that the forthcoming event will be held in Pakistan along with another neutral venue. This was the first significant decision made under Jay Shah's leadership.
Additionally, all ICC events in the 2024–2027 cycle that will take place in India or Pakistan will use the hybrid model.
As a member of the Mahayuti alliance, which consists of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Nationalist Congress Party, and the Shiv Sena, Ashish Shelar, the former treasurer of the BCCI, was recently elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly following the conclusion of the Maharashtra elections.
