Is Rishabh Pant's fifty off 29 balls a fitting response to Sunil Gavaskar's "dumb" comment? Fans are unable to remain composed.

In the second innings of the fifth Test match against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Rishabh Pant struck a scorching 61 off 32 balls. The fastest by a visiting batsman on Australian soil, he reached his fifty in just 29 balls.
Following Rishabh Pant's 29-ball fifty against Australia in the second innings of the fifth Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), social media was inundated with memes that targeted the legendary Sunil Gavaskar. India is 141/6 with a 145-run lead at the stumps on Day 2.

On the morning of Day 3 of the BGT 2024–25, Gavaskar, who is currently commentating, said, "Stupid stupid stupid," after the Indian wicketkeeper was removed for attempting an unconventional shot.

Pant took on a new persona in Sydney, when he dominated the Australian bowling scene with a barrage of sixes and boundaries against Beau Webster, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Scott Boland.

Pant arrived after Shubman Gill was fired, and he was in a mood right away. After India had already lost four wickets, Pant felt the need for runs and played his natural style, perfecting his ramp shots.

Before going on the rampage against Beau Webster, who was making his debut, the southpaw hit Boland for three fours in an over after taking a six off his opening delivery. Pant actually hit the deep mid-wicket boundary with a flick off the pads against Starc to reach his fifty.

Fans, however, were unable to remain composed on social media because they believed it was a fitting response to Melbourne's Gavaskar's comment. Creative memes were also widely shared on social media by netizens.

Rishabh Pant smashes a record with 50 years.
In the process, Pant reached his half-century in just 29 balls, making him the foreign hitter with the fastest fifty on Australian soil. In addition, his fifty was the fastest by a visiting batsman on Australian territory, beating the 33-ball scores of Roy Fredericks of the West Indies (Perth, 1975) and John Brown of England (Melbourne, 1895).
