IndiGo's Q3 profit drops 18% year-over-year despite growing air travel demand; key highlights.

IndiGo Q3 result: On Friday, January 24, InterGlobe Aviation announced that its December quarter net profit had decreased 18.32% year over year to ₹2,448.8 crore. The company made ₹2,998.1 crore in the same period previous year. The company recorded a loss of ₹986.7 crore in Q2FY25. Compared to ₹19,452.1 crore in the same quarter previous year, consolidated revenue from operations increased 13.7% year over year to ₹22,110.7 crore.

"Both operationally and financially, we produced a solid third quarter of fiscal year 2025. With a profit of ₹38.5 billion before the effect of currency fluctuations, we recorded a total income of ₹230 billion, which represents a 15% gain. We reported a profit of ₹24.5 billion, including currency impact, demonstrating the successful implementation of our clear and well-defined strategy," said Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo.

"The strong market demand and our capacity to provide it, which was bolstered by declining fuel prices, were the main drivers of these outcomes. During the quarter, we served a record 31.1 million passengers and ran a peak of 2,200 daily flights, setting new records. We will keep expanding so that we can provide our clients with convenient flight options to the location of their choice," Elbers stated.

Important numbers

Compared to a net profit of ₹2,998.1 crore, the low-cost carrier reported a net profit of ₹2,448.8 crore. Operational revenue rose 13.7% year over year to ₹22,110.7 crore.

In contrast to a ₹5,475.1 crore EBITDAR and a 28.1 percent EBITDAR margin, the company recorded an EBITDAR of ₹6,058.7 crores and an EBITDAR margin of 27.4%.

Comparisons of costs
According to IndiGo, its overall revenue for the quarter that ended in December 2024 was ₹22,992.8 crore, which represents a 14.6% increase over the same period the previous year.

In comparison to the same period last year, IndiGo said that its passenger ticket revenues for Q3 were ₹19,267.8 crore, up 12.3%, and its ancillary revenues were ₹2,153.1 crore, up 22.3%.

In comparison to the same quarter previous year, the total expenses for the quarter ending in December 2024 increased by 19.9% to ₹20,465.7 crore.

Money and debt
The company's total cash balance as of December 31, 2024, was ₹43,780.8 crore, which included ₹14,877.3 crore in restricted cash and ₹28,903.5 crore in free cash.

₹49,593.7 crore was the capitalised operating lease liability. The overall debt was ₹65,138.5 crore, which included the capitalized operating lease liabilities.

Fleet and network
There were 437 aircraft in the company's fleet as of December 31, 2024. The airline witnessed a net increase of 27 passenger planes during the quarter. Including non-scheduled flights, IndiGo's daily flight volume peaked during the quarter at 2,200.

Performance in operations
IndiGo's technical dispatch reliability from October to December 2024 was 99.89 percent.

It had a flight cancellation rate of 0.97 percent and an on-time performance of 73.3% at four major metros.

Future expansion of capacity
In comparison to the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024, the business anticipates that Q4FY25 ASKs (available seat kilometers) will rise by about 20%.
