The first hat-trick of the Women's U-19 T20 World Cup 2025 was recorded by Vaishnavi Sharma. In her four overs, including a maiden, she finished with 5/5.
Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma made a spectacular debut in her first game at the ICC Women's U-19 T20 World Cup, helping India defeat minnows Malaysia by 10 wickets in a Group A encounter on Tuesday with a 5/5, including a hat-trick. In 14.3 overs, India bundled out the hosts for a pitiful 31 thanks to Vaishnavi Sharma's fifer.
India responded by sweeping home with 10 wickets in hand in only 2.5 overs. Vaishnavi Sharma and fellow left-arm spinner Ayushi Shukla (3/8), who chose to field first, swept through Malaysia's batting order.
Nur Aliya Binti Mohd Hairun and Nazatul Hidayah Husna Binti Razali led the scoring with five runs apiece, while none of the Malaysian hitters reached double figures. There were four hitters out for ducks.
India barely batted an eyelid throughout the chase, quickly reaching 32/0. G Trisha hit five fours and an undefeated 27 off 12 balls. Due to their superior Net Run-Rate (NRR), India has now won both of their games and is atop the group. Sri Lanka has won two games as well.
With an NRR of +9.1, India outperforms Sri Lanka, which has an NRR of +5.5. Since the hosts were at a loss for replies, Vaishnavi Sharma made the most of the pitch's noticeable turn and bounce.
She scored a hat-trick against Nur Ain Binti Roslan, Nur Isma Dania, and Siti Nazwah in the 14th over, which caused Malaysia to further falter from 24/6 to 30/9.
"Getting a hat-trick and five wickets in one debut was an incredible experience. There have been ups and downs throughout my trip.I admire Ravindra Jadeja and Radha Yadav, the senior left-arm spinner for India. After the game, Vaishnavi Sharma remarked, "Last night, I had a vision of how I was going to get wickets here."
Earlier, she had taken out Nuriman and Malaysian captain Nur Syuhada, as none of the home team's batsmen could score ten runs or more.Actually, India had bowled ten wides, and without those runs, Malaysia's tally would have been significantly worse.
