In his first Ranji Trophy appearance in ten years, Rohit Sharma walks back for single figures against J&K after 19 balls.

In his Ranji Trophy comeback after a 10-year absence, Rohit Sharma struggled with pace, scoring only three runs off of 19 balls against Jammu and Kashmir at the BKC Ground in Mumbai.

After Mumbai, headed by Ajinkya Rahane, decided to bat first against Jammu and Kashmir at the BKC ground on Thursday, Rohit Sharma made his Ranji Trophy comeback after a ten-year absence, managing just three runs in just eighteen balls. In 2015, Rohit last participated in a Ranji Trophy match.

Rohit chose to play for Mumbai after his dismal batting performance for India in the Test series against Australia and New Zealand, after the BCCI mandated that all players to play domestic cricket when not on national duty, in an attempt to keep all the players in form.

Rohit began the innings cautiously, attempting to position himself in the middle against the new ball while facing Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jammu and Kashmir bowlers Auqib Nabi Dar and Umar Nazir Mir were bowling tight lengths, but the right-hander patiently dismissed them.

Rohit attempted to play on the leg side by getting on the backfoot, but a rising delivery from Mir undid him. To the dismay of the supporters, opposition captain Paras Dogra caught the ball after it struck the side of the bat for a leading edge.

Fans were actually spotted leaving the field following Rohit's dismissal in a video that is making the rounds on social media. Jaiswal had previously been stranded LBW for just five runs off eight balls.

If Mumbai gets to bat again, the India captain will have another opportunity to prove himself in the second innings. It is uncertain if Rohit will play in Mumbai's upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Meghalaya because he will be playing in the ODI series against England, which begins on February 6.
