Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, the accused in the stabbing case of Saif Ali Khan, was taken into custody on Sunday from the nearby city of Thane.
The stabbing case of Saif Ali Khan: On Sunday, the Mumbai Police disclosed how the suspect who attacked Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan on January 16 entered the actor's residence on the 12th floor.According to the police, the accused slept at a bus stop and remained in the vicinity until 7 a.m. on the day of the incident.
According to police, he broke into the Bollywood star's residence in the posh Bandra Satguru Sharan complex early on January 16 with the purpose to steal.
Following the event, he slept until 7 a.m. on January 16 at a bus stop close to Patwardhan Garden in Bandra West. PTI cited an unnamed source as stating, "He later boarded a train and reached Worli (in central Mumbai)."
"Our investigation revealed that he used the stairs to reach the seventh or eighth story, then went into the duct area, used a pipe to ascend to the twelfth floor, and broke into the actor's apartment through a bathroom window. After that, he emerged from the restroom, where the actor's crew noticed him, setting off the series of events that culminated in the assault," the official continued.
Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, the accused, was taken into custody on Sunday from the nearby city of Thane. According to the authorities, he is a citizen of Bangladesh who entered India illegally and changed his name to Bijoy Das. He is being held by the police until January 24.
"The accused asked for ₹1 crore."
He clashed with the nanny and demanded ₹1 crore, according to the officials. Saif Khan Ali showed up and challenged him after hearing the disturbance.
"The defendant stabbed Khan in the back after becoming alarmed. Later, thinking the accused was pinned inside, Khan closed the apartment. The accused, however, was able to escape from the same location where he had entered. From his bag, we found a hammer, a screwdriver, nylon rope, and other items.
The accused's possessions raise suspicions among the police that he may have criminal history.
According to the official, the accused only realized he had attacked a Bollywood actor after reading social media posts and television news stories about the incident.
Ajit Pawar, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, claimed earlier today that the accused had no idea he had invaded a Bollywood star's house.
According to Pawar, the man was informed that the Bandra building is exclusively inhabited by wealthy individuals.
