The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's health department said in a press release on Friday that the patient's condition worsened and he died on January 30, 2025.
Guillain-Barre Syndrome was another diagnosis made for the deceased. On January 22, a nerve conduction test was conducted, according to the statement cited by ANI.
"Immediate cause of death: Severe acute respiratory distress syndrome, Antecedent cause of death: Bilateral pneumonia, Other significant condition: Guillain-Barre Syndrome" was another reason given by the committee.
Pune has so far recorded the highest number of GBS virus infections, with up to 130 individuals receiving a diagnosis as of January 30.
Thirteen of these patients are from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, nine are from Pune Rural, nine are from other districts, twenty-five are from Pune Municipal Corporation, and seventy-four are from recently added villages in the PMC area. Of these, 73 patients have been proven to have GBS. According to the report, 20 of the impacted people are presently receiving ventilator support.
