Following Satya Nadella's meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Microsoft announced a $3 billion investment in India.

Following a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 6, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced the $3 billion investment into India's cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Satya Nadella said at an event on Tuesday, January 7, that Microsoft Corp., a large American tech company, will invest $3 billion in India to increase the country's artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and its own Azure cloud computing services business in the country.

The Microsoft CEO stated on Tuesday, "I am extremely thrilled to announce the single largest expansion we have ever done in India by investing USD 3 billion additional dollars to expand our Azure capacity."

According to the news agency PTI, Nadella also emphasized that the corporation is now expanding regionally throughout the nation.

According to the agency report, the CEO also stated that the company plans to train 10 million Indians in AI skills by 2030.

Getting together with Modi
The Microsoft CEO made this decision the day after meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which they talked about a number of subjects, including artificial intelligence and technology.

Following the meeting, Nadella thanked the Prime Minister on social media in a post on platform X.
“Make India AI-first and work together on our continued expansion in the country to ensure every Indian benefits from this AI platform shift.” The Chief also alluded to the impending move, saying he was eager to build on the pledge.

In reaction to Nadella's post on X, Prime Minister Modi remarked, "It was also great to discuss different aspects of tech, innovation, and AI in our meeting."

The Telengana Meeting with Nadella
Satya Nadella met Telangana Chief Minister K. Revanth Reddy and his Cabinet Ministers, D Sridhar Babu and Uttam Kumar Reddy, prior to meeting PM Modi.in Hyderabad on December 30, 2024, to talk about the business's continued investments in the state and look into potential future partnerships in the technology industry.

Microsoft was among the first businesses to establish facilities in Hyderabad, an emerging digital cluster, and has a long history there.
