Following Raj Thackeray's protest, Chhaava director Laxman Utekar removes Vicky Kaushal's dance number: "Not a huge deal."

Laxman Utekar, the director of Chhaava, chose to cut out a dance number with Vicky Kaushal when Maharashtra minister Uday Samant objected.

A sequence in Chhaava when Vicky Kaushal, who plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, is shown dancing drew criticism from Maharashtra minister Uday Samant on Sunday. In response, Laxman Utekar, the film's director, disclosed that he chose to cut the part from the movie following a meeting with Raj Thackeray.

Rashmika Mandanna and Vicky Kaushal's dance routine will be eliminated.
"I have met Raj Thackeray," the director told the reporters in a statement. He is a diligent individual and a voracious reader. I have therefore heeded his advice and recommendations. I can also state that I find his words to be quite beneficial. After we met, I made the decision to remove the sequences in which Sambhaji Maharaj was shown performing the lezim dance, according to India Today.

"Lezim dance is not a big deal," he added, adding that the dance scene starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna will not be included in the film. That Lezim dance is nothing compared to Sambhaji Maharaj. Therefore, we will cut those portions out of the movie.

He continued by explaining that Shivaji Sawant's book Chhava, which shows Sambhaji as a 20-year-old fighter, served as the inspiration for the movie's depiction of Sambhaji Maharaj. However, Utekar chose to eliminate the dancing segment out of consideration for people who were offended by the portrayal.highlighting the fact that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj's legacy was not more important than Lezim dance.

The filmmaker acknowledged the worries of several Maharashtra politicians and emphasized the significance of having historians see the movie prior to its premiere. According to Utekar, a special premiere show has been planned for January 29 and will feature specialists and historians who will provide instruction.

Uday Samant's remarks
This follows Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant's recommendation that historians and academics examine the movie to make sure there are no offensive parts. "It is a matter of joy that a Hindi film based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the protector of religion and protector of freedom, has been released," Samant said on X (previously Twitter).is being produced. In order for the world to comprehend Chhatrapati's history, such endeavors are required. Nonetheless, a lot of people have voiced their thoughts that this movie has some offensive situations. We believe that this movie shouldn't be distributed until it has been seen by professionals and knowledgeable individuals. Anything that could damage the Maharaj's reputation will not be accepted.
