Five days after the stabbing incident, Saif Ali Khan will be released from the Mumbai hospital.

According to news agency IANS, actor Saif Ali Khan, who was taken to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, would be released on Tuesday, January 21, and will soon return home.

In anticipation of Saif Ali Khan's release, the Mumbai Police have stepped up security outside Lilavati Hospital to maintain crowd control and safety.

After an intruder—later identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad—tried to enter the actor's Bandra home, Saif Ali Khan was taken to Lilavati Hospital on January 16. According to reports, the actor's maid was approached by the intruder, which led to the confrontation. When Saif attempted to step in and help, he was attacked. The intruder severely injured him by stabbing him several times.

At 3:30 in the morning, Saif Ali Khan was taken to Lilavati. He was stabbed six times. Deep, two of them. Dr. Niraj Uttamani, CEO of Lilavati, told The Hindustan Times (HT) that a group of medical professionals were doing surgery on him.

"His spine is nearer one of the injuries... Only after surgery will we be able to determine the full degree of the harm. The official was quoted by HT as saying, "A neurosurgeon is involved in the surgery."

During a news conference last week, Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital commended Saif's bravery, describing how the actor entered the hospital "like a lion" despite being covered in "blood."

"He was covered in blood. However, he and his tiny child entered like a lion. He truly is a hero. Right now, he's doing great. His parameters are now better. He is being moved to a dedicated room from the intensive care unit. We shall control visitors. Dr. Dange stated, "We want him to rest."
