The legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni
After Blake sued Justin for sexual harassment in December, a New York Times piece accused Justin of planning a defamatory publicity campaign against her. In retaliation, Justin sued Blake and Ryan Reynolds for $400 million and filed defamation lawsuits against the Times, alleging she used her celebrity status to ruin his career.
Raw video of a scene at the heart of Blake's harassment claims was recently made public by Justin's legal team. Justin remarked, "It smells good," in reference to Lively's makeup, during a chat that was captured in the romantic dance moment. Blake had previously stated that the comment was made in a quiet setting without microphones, but the audio-rich clip disproves her assertions.
On set, the performers can be seen smiling and laughing while talking about their spouses and the choreography of the scene. Blake has also been charged by Justin with intimidating behavior. The lawsuit also claimed that Blake arranged a "mear campaign" through her publicist, twisted text conversations to disparage Justin, and neglected to read the book on which the movie is based until production had begun.
