Sales of Tesla
Tesla's shares fell sharply following the announcement of Musk's donation and the company's first yearly sales loss in a decade. Tesla's stock dropped 6.1% on January 2, 2025, closing at $379.28. A broader market collapse coincided with this dip, as stocks fell and the dollar hit its highest level in two years.
In 2024, Tesla delivered 1.79 million vehicles, a 1.1% decline in annual sales that fell short of Wall Street's forecasts. The decline has been attributed to a downturn in worldwide demand as well as increased competition from Chinese rivals like BYD.
