Trump said he was in favor of H1-B visas for "competent" workers in the tech sector as well as other occupations like "high-quality waiters."
According to news agency PTI, US President Donald Trump said he welcomes "competent people" to enter the nation and that he likes both sides of the discussion over the H-1B foreign guest workers' visa during a press conference at the White House on Tuesday."I appreciate both points of view, but I also welcome highly qualified individuals to enter our nation, even if that means assisting and training those who might not possess their credentials. He said, "I don't want to stop," at the ceremony alongside Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son, Oracle CTO Larry Ellison, and Sam Altman, CEO of Open AI.
He went on to say that the visa did not apply to the importation of top talent for the tech sector, but rather for other occupations.
"We want qualified individuals to enter our nation. And I am quite familiar with the H-1B program. I make use of the application. You must hire the best staff, including maître d', wine specialists, and even waiters of the highest caliber. "He needs engineers, and NASA needs engineers, like no one has ever needed them," Trump remarked.
One of the most contentious issues among Trump's own supporters is the H1-B international guest workers' visa. Although some supporters, such as Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, are in favor of the initiative to recruit skilled experts,Others contend that American people lose their jobs as a result of the flood of foreign immigrants.
Therefore, we need to bring in excellent personnel. At the press conference, Trump continued, "By doing that, we're growing businesses and that takes care of everybody."
H-1B and birthright citizenship
In a radical executive order titled "Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship," signed on the first day of his second term, Donald Trump revoked the nation's birthright citizenship, even though he may be willing to allow the entry of foreign workers under the H-1B visa.
According to Trump, a newborn born in the US will not be an American citizen unless at least one of their parents is a citizen or a green card holder.
Everyone in the US with a temporary visa status, including those with an H1-B visa, will be impacted by his decision. As of February 20, the ruling will apply to all children born in the United States.
