Currently serving as Canada's Minister of Transport and Internal Trade is Anita Anand. Minister Anand, who was born and reared in rural Nova Scotia, relocated to Ontario in 1985. The Canadian government's website states that she and her husband, John, reared their four children in Oakville.
Anand has had a variety of positions throughout her career. In 2019, she was elected as Oakville's first member of parliament. She formerly held the positions of Minister of Public Services and Procurement (2019–2021), Minister of National Defense, and President of the Treasury Board.
