"A significant day for Delhi": Which projects will PM Narendra Modi introduce today?

The World Trade Center, a CBSE office building in Dwarka, and 1,675 newly built apartments for JJ cluster residents are among the projects that will be opened.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared Friday to be a "significant day for Delhi's development" prior to the opening of a number of construction projects in the city.

"Today is a significant day for the growth of Delhi. PM Narendra Modi posted on X (previously Twitter) at a program in Ashok Vihar, "will be inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for a wide range of development works which will boost 'Ease of Living' for the people of Delhi."

1,675 newly built apartments for residents of the JJ (Jhuggi Jhopri) clusters in Ashok Vihar, the World Trade Centre (WTC) in Nauroji Nagar, the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters in Sarojini Nagar, and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Integrated Office Complex in Dwarka are among the projects that the prime minister will officially open.

The foundation stone for three projects totaling ₹600 crore for Delhi University will finally be laid by Prime Minister Modi. These include the state-of-the-art Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh; the Eastern Campus in Surajmal Vihar; and the Western Campus in Dwarka.

The opposition Congress and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are engaged in a verbal sparring match over Veer Savarkar College, which bears the name of the right-wing theorist. The BJP is allegedly "glorifying those who submitted mercy petitions to the British," according to the Congress.

The right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the BJP's ideological father, has retaliated by accusing the grand old party of identifying itself solely by "insulting great people."

Additionally, the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), a student organization connected to the Congress, is currently in charge of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU).
