90-hour workweek: When Elon Musk claimed that 40 hours a week didn't transform the world,

Since L&T Chairman SN Subrahmanyan supports a 90-hour workday, the discussion surrounding work-life balance is becoming more heated. Internet users are making analogies to Elon Musk's 2018 statement that major accomplishments necessitate working more than 40 hours a week.

There are differing views on work-life balance on the internet as a result of the controversy surrounding Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Chairman SN Subrahmanyan's proposal for a 90-hour workday.

Subrahmanyan's comments have sparked strong reactions, particularly the suggestion that workers should skip Sundays. While some applaud his viewpoint, others view it as a concerning drive toward burnout.

The controversy has also brought back to life a famous statement made by Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and owner of X, in a 2018 post: "Nobody ever changed the world with 40 hours a week."

In the midst of the current issue, Musk's comment has gained new attention online.

"Join to create exciting new worlds of technology!!" Elon Musk tweeted in response to a Wall Street Journal article in 2018. @SpaceX, @Tesla, @BoringCompany, and @Neuralink are the places to be if you care about getting things done.

"There are much easier places to work, but nobody ever changed the world on 40 hours a week," the Tesla founder said in another post in the same forum.

Musk added, "But if you love what you do, it (usually) doesn't feel like work."

But one of the X users asked Musk how many hours a week would be the best way to make a difference.

In answer to a query, Musk stated, "Varies per person, but about 80 sustained, peaking above 100 at times."

"Beyond 80, the level of pain increases exponentially," he continued.

Since Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy caused a social media uproar by stating that young people should be ready to work seventy hours a week, the discussion about work-life balance has persisted.

For his divisive comments, L&T Chairman SN Subrahmanyan is also receiving a lot of criticism.

I'm sorry, but I can't force you to work on Sundays. Since I work on Sundays, I would be happier if I could get you to work on Sundays as well. Sitting at home, what do you do? How much time can you spend staring at your wife? How much time may the women spend gazing at their husbands? Come on, get to the office and start working," said Subrahmanyan advocating for 90-hour workweeks.

Nonetheless, a number of businessmen, such as Anand Mahindra, Harsh Goenka, and Rajiv Bajaj, have reaffirmed that quality work is more significant than quantity.
