24 Dead in Los Angeles Fire, 'Fire Tornado' Caused by Strong Winds: 10 Points

One of the people murdered in the flames in Los Angeles was Rory Sykes, a former Australian child star who starred in the British television program "Kiddy Kapers."

Massive flames surrounding Los Angeles have now been verified to have killed at least 24 people. California Governor Gavin Newsom has said that the fires may be the most destructive natural catastrophe in US history, and thousands of houses have been damaged.

Ten things about wildfires in Los Angeles are as follows:
Over the weekend, the verified death toll from two wildfires in Los Angeles, which burned for the sixth consecutive day on Sunday, increased to 24. Of the deceased, 16 were discovered in the Eaton Fire Zone and 8 in the Palisades Fire Zone.

Among those murdered in the wildfires in the second-largest city in the United States was Rory Sykes, a former Australian child star who starred in the British television program "Kiddy Kapers" in the 1990s.
At 14,000 acres, the Eaton Fire was 15% controlled, while the Palisades Fire, which has expanded to 23,600 acres, was 11% contained. As the fire raged across California's San Fernando Valley, a fire tornado was also purportedly witnessed.

Over 1 lakh people have been forced to leave as a result of the fire, which has damaged or destroyed over 12,000 structures. Between $135 billion and $150 billion is the projected amount of damage and economic loss.

The fires, which mimic a Hollywood catastrophe film, have also destroyed the houses of hundreds of actors, including Paris Hilton, Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, and Billy Crystal.

This weekend, Santa Ana winds that had earlier in the week reached hurricane intensity gradually subsided, providing firefighters with a brief reprieve from the weather.

However, officials cautioned that the winds would increase once more from Sunday evening through Wednesday, reaching 96 km/h.

Gavin Newsom, the governor of California and a Democrat from the party of outgoing President Joe Biden, has promised that the city will rebuild. "We already have a team looking at reimagining L.A. 2.0," he stated.

Donald Trump, the US president-elect, has charged California officials with being incompetent. "This is among the worst disasters in our nation's history. The fires simply cannot be extinguished. He asked, "What's wrong with them?"

To find out what started the fires, federal and municipal officials have started a massive investigation. Wildfires are often natural and an essential part of the life cycle of an area, yet they can be intentionally started.
