With a disappointing debut, Mufasa: The Lion King (North America) makes over 82% less money than the film's opening weekend.

Mufasa: Christmas might be a good time for The Lion King.

As anticipated, Mufasa: The Lion King did poorly at the box office and was badly outperformed by Sonic 3. In addition to being lower than Wonka's launch weekend, the statistics are well below the forecasts. Both domestically and internationally, the musical fantasy genre is struggling. The musical fantasy, which shattered industry expectations with its first weekend collection, has been severely impacted by Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Shadow the Hedgehog, which Keanu Reeves joined the cast for, is beginning to pay off as the movie surpasses The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' first box office haul to become the 15th highest opening weekend in US history.

Mufasa: According to Luiz Fernando's assessment, the Lion King only made $35 million over the course of its three-day opening weekend. The film's earnings fell short of the already modest projections of $48–$52 million. According to reports, its earnings are 5.5 times lower than those of the 2019 film. For the uninitiated, the first weekend of The Lion King brought in $191.8 million.

During its five-day launch, Mufasa made a respectable $87.2 million in all 54 markets. But Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hasn't been released abroad yet. It was once expected to make between $177 and $192 million globally, but with the underwhelming first-day receipts, it was estimated to make between $110 and $127 million. Regretfully, the worldwide collection has also fallen short of the anticipated range.
