Ram Gopal Varma, who questioned whether celebrity was a crime and drew comparisons to the Sridevi incident, asked celebrities to oppose Allu Arjun's imprisonment, stressing that celebrities shouldn't be held accountable for disasters involving crowds.
The arrest of Allu Arjun in relation to the stampede during the Pushpa 2 promotions has drawn criticism from filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. Allu Arjun was first placed under 14 days of judicial prison before receiving a four-week temporary bail.Varma recently questioned whether being incredibly successful was a crime and urged other celebrities to voice their strong opposition to the actor's detention in a post on X (previously Twitter).He emphasized that celebrities shouldn't be held responsible for crowd-related disasters by drawing a comparison between the current scenario and a previous occurrence involving the late Sridevi. He also emphasized the importance of having a balanced viewpoint on such issues.
Ram Gopal Varma wrote, "Every STAR should STRONGLY protest against @alluarjun‘s ARREST because for any celebrity, whether it’s a FILM STAR or a POLITICAL STAR, is it a crime for them to be ENORMOUSLY POPULAR???" in response to Allu Arjun's arrest connected to a woman's death during the Pushpa 2 premiere. He went on to compare the stampede disaster in Pushpa 2 to a similar tragedy that befell the late actress Sridevi.
He asked if the cops would now go to heaven to apprehend the deceased actress."During the filming of my movie KSHANA KSHANAM, three persons lost their lives among the thousands of people that came to see SRIDEVI.In order to arrest Sridevi, will the Telangana police now travel to Heaven?
For those who don't know, Ram Gopal Varma is the writer and director of the 1991 Telugu movie Kshana Kshanam. Venkatesh, Sridevi, Paresh Rawal, and Rami Reddy all played important parts in the film.
On December 4, thousands of fans flocked to the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad for the launch of Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, when a fatal tragedy occurred during a stampede. Tragically, a 35-year-old lady died, and her son was seriously hurt.After the woman's relatives complained, a case was brought against Allu Arjun, his security detail, and the theater's management. Allu Arjun was detained on December 13 but was released early on December 14 when the Telangana High Court granted him temporary bail.
