Watch Sanjay Manjrekar and Irfan Pathan Fight Over Yashasvi Jaiswal-Virat Kohli's Run-Out in "Aap He Boliye"

Manjrekar and Irfan Pathan got into a furious dispute about Virat Kohli's alleged responsibility for Yashasvi Jaiswal's dismissal.

Irfan Pathan and former cricket players Sanjay Manjrekar got into a furious altercation about Yashasvi Jaiswal's appalling run-out during Friday's Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Manjrekar maintained that Kohli made a "schoolboy error" by focusing on the ball rather than his partner, while Pathan believed Jaiswal was incorrect to call for a run after hitting the ball crisply to mid-on.

The event took place following the conclusion of play on the second day. The former pacer's views appeared to particularly enrage Manjrekar, who was speaking digitally from India while his 3D image was displayed next to Pathan's live photos from Melbourne. The Mumbaikar said to Pathan, who wasn't too impressed either, "Aap he boliye" (You only speak), feeling as though he wasn't being allowed to speak.

Before the disagreement, Manjrekar had emphasized that the non-striker should always monitor his partner when considering whether to go for a run because it's a "primary school" rule in cricket. He said that Jaiswal was sprinting to the non-striker's end and that the opener "sacrificed his wicket" due to Kohli's poor decision.

Additionally, he believed that Kohli's seeming insinuation that he didn't hear Jaiswal's request was incorrect, as the former Indian captain denied the run even though he could clearly see his teammate rushing in his direction. He went on to say that both players wanted to keep the strike for the following over, which Mitchell Marsh, a part-time bowler, would probably bowl.

We are thinking too much from Virat Kohli's perspective just because he is involved. He looked behind him and thought there was no single there, which was a typical school [boy] mistake. The non-striker should not make the call. Fielder Pat Cummins would have tossed it at the non-striker's end if Jaiswal had made a poor decision. However, Jaiswal had no opportunity as Kohli refused," Manjrekar contended on star sports.

"The truth about cricket is that the non-striker makes the decision when a ball goes to point, but the striker has the option to refuse," Pathan retorted.

It was the "wrong example," in Manjrekar's opinion.

We're talking about the ball falling behind [the non-striker], so that's about the point, Irfan," he remarked.

Manjrekar responded, "Okay, if you don't want to let me speak, it's fine," as Pathan continued to speak.

"There should be a change to the coaching manual," Manjrekar concluded, taking a satirical jab at Pathan. It should incorporate Ifran Pathan's new perspective on running between the wickets. Even when the ball is behind him, a non-striker should still check to see if there is a run.
