As a founding member of Microsoft's Windows Azure team, Krishnan started his career.Sriram Krishnan, an Indian American author, venture capitalist, and entrepreneur, was appointed Senior White House Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence by US President-elect Donald Trump on Monday.
"Sriram Krishnan will serve as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy," Trump stated in announcing the appointment. The appointment is a component of a larger effort to influence US AI policy.
Krishnan will work alongside David O. Sacks, the recently appointed White House AI & Crypto Czar. Krishnan has held executive positions at Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snap.
"In close collaboration with David Sacks, Sriram will contribute to maintaining U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence and influencing policy coordination throughout the government, including interaction with the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology," Trump stated.
As a founding member of Microsoft's Windows Azure team, Krishnan started his career. "I'm honored to serve our country and work closely with David Sacks to secure American leadership in AI," he wrote on the microblogging platform X, discussing his new position.
The appointment has been warmly embraced by the Indian American community. "We extend our sincere congratulations to Sriram Krishnan on this esteemed position," stated Sanjeev Joshipura, Executive Director of Indiaspora. The country will greatly benefit from his combination of experience in technology, investing, international affairs, and public policy.
