To rival Zepto Cafe, Zomato's Blinkit introduces Bistro, a stand-alone 10-minute meal delivery service.

 

Blinkit's decision to release a new app only for food comes at a time when all rapid delivery services are increasing their efforts to provide meals in order to generate income beyond ten-minute delivery of groceries and other items.

To compete with Zepto Cafe, Blinkit, Zomato's rapid commerce division, has introduced Bistro, a new food delivery app that will bring snacks and other food products in ten minutes. The launch occurs one day after Zepto, Blinkit's fiercest rival, declared it would release a new app for Cafe, its meal delivery service.

Indeed, this is Zomato's second effort at delivering food in ten minutes, following the closure of Zomato Instant.

In just three years, rapid commerce businesses like Blinkit and Zepto went from delivering groceries to selling clothing and medications this year. 10-minute food delivery is one of the key growth levers that rapid delivery businesses are using to expand quickly and generate new revenue streams.

Through their rapid food delivery services, Blinkit's Bistro, Zepto Cafe, and Swiggy Bolt all provide consumers with ready-made foods like sandwiches, samosas, coffee, and pastries.

The Bistro app is not yet available on the Apple App Store, however it is currently accessible on the Play Store for Android.

Simmering 10-minute food delivery battles
