Stock market holiday: The first stock market holiday of 2025 will be on February 26 on the occasion of Mahashivratri. The January 26 holiday for Republic Day falls on a Sunday. The last holiday for the next year will be on December 25 for Christmas. Stock market holiday: The Indian stock exchanges, BSE and NSE, will remain open on Wednesday, January 1, New Year Day. Christmas will also be the final holiday of the following year on December 25.
On Tuesday, October 21, the Diwali Muhurat Trading will take place. The trading hours for Muhurat trade will be announced later by the NSE and the BSE.
Holidays in the World Stock Market
On January 1, trade is suspended on the majority of the world's major stock markets.
The stock markets in South Korea and Japan are closed on New Year's Eve in Asia.
On Tuesday, December 31, trading will end for the year at 2 p.m. ET, and the US bond markets will close early. On New Year's Day, the US stock market will not be open.
While all European markets will be closed on New Year's Day and reopen on January 2, the markets in Germany, Switzerland, and Italy are also closed today.
