New Delhi: To commemorate the centennial of Raj Kapoor's birth, the Kapoors flew out of Mumbai to visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the Raj Kapoor Film Festival was inaugurated. On Tuesday morning, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena-Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Ranbir Kapoor were photographed at a private airport in Mumbai. Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt opted for red salwar suits, while Neetu Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor wore white ones. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt posed for an ideal photo. Saif Ali Khan was dressed in his customary attire, while Ranbir Kapoor sported a black coat. According to reports, the actors will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and extend an invitation to him for a special celebration commemorating the centennial of Raj Kapoor's birth.
Ranbir Kapoor revealed last month that the IFFI 2024 would be the film festival commemorating the renowned actor-director's 100th birthday. The actor added that ten of Raj Kapoor's films have been restored by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), National Film Archives of India (NFAI), Film Heritage Foundation (FHF), and his uncle Kunal Kapoor."I hope you all attend the film festival as well. 'Who's Kishore Kumar?' Alia asked me when we first met. People are forgotten; it's just a part of life. We must keep in mind our origins," he continued. Ranbir also discussed how much he wanted to do a biography about his grandfather. "I discuss the process of creating a biopic about Mr. Raj Kapoor with several people, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He stated at IFFI that a biopic must accurately depict a person's life, including its low points, hardships, and interpersonal relationships, rather than only focusing on their achievements. "The biopic is extremely difficult to produce. For the most part, I'm not sure if my family would consent to exhibit this side of Raj Kapoor. However, I believe that would make a fantastic film," he continued.
Raj Kapoor is renowned for his roles in films such as Mera Naam Joker, Sangam, Shree 420, and Awaara. Throughout his career, he received multiple Filmfare Awards, the Padma Bhushan in 1971, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1988.While Jagte Raho won the Crystal Globe at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Raj Kapoor's films, including Awaara and Boot Polish, participated in the Cannes Film Festival.
