Review and Rating of Viduthalai Part 2: Do you intend to watch Viduthalai Part 2 of Soori, starring Vijay Sethupathi? First, read our review here!

Part 2 of About Viduthalai

Review and rating of the film Viduthalai Part 2: The positive reception of Soori and Vijay Sethupathi's Vuduthalai Part 1 made the wait for the sequel difficult. The film, directed by Vetrimaaran and starring Manju Warrier, came out on December 20. Is the follow-up as good as the first one? Was splitting the one-part film into two parts a wise choice? Let's investigate.

Review of Viduthalai Part 2: Storyline

The sequel, which picks up just where Viduthalai Part 1 left off, takes us farther into the turbulent life of Kumaresan (Soori), a cop torn between his moral compass and the brutal police apparatus. The story narrows its focus to the ideological conflict between Perumal (Vijay Sethupathi), the mysterious head of the separatist organization Makkal Padai, and Kumaresan. The pacing occasionally falters with extended scenes that lessen the tension, but the story's core is still engaging. Although it remains fairly accurate, the adaptation of Jeyamohan's Thunaivan might have used more precise editing to keep up its pace.

Review of Viduthalai Part 2: Direction

Vetrimaaran once again demonstrates his skill at producing an unvarnished, engrossing environment. His depiction of moral quandaries and institutional subjugation is heartbreakingly real. Although they occasionally verge on being over the top, the scenes showing police brutality and its psychological effects are powerful. The director's ability to immerse the audience in the harsh world he portrays is still admirable, even though the sequel loses the narrative coherence of the first installment and has less polished subplots and character arcs.

Review of the film Viduthalai Part 2: Performances

In yet another performance that defines her career, Soori masterfully captures Kumaresan's inner turmoil. Vijay Sethupathi's captivating performance as Perumal makes an impression that lasts. The newcomers, including Anurag Kashyap, Vincent Asokan, and Kishore, give strong performances, while Manju Warrier, who plays Sethupathi's wife in the sequel, was excellent. Gautham Vasudev Menon also gives substance to his role. Less powerful scenes were given to Bhavani Sre, who received the raw end of the bargain.

Review of Viduthalai Part 2: Conclusion

Part 2 of Viduthalai is a daring attempt to wrap up an extensive plot, and Vetrimaaran's distinctive writing and powerful performances really shine. But it falls short of the heights of its predecessor due to its erratic pacing and unclear narrative. As a stand-alone movie or a follow-up, it doesn't quite satisfy, despite leaving a lasting effect. There is still lot to enjoy for fans of dramatic, socially oriented film.
