According to the Russian Embassy in India, Ushakov said during a briefing that Putin and Prime Minister Modi have agreed to meet once a year and that this time it is Russia's turn.

Putin will be visiting India for the first time since the crisis between Russia and Ukraine started in 2022. India has consistently supported "peace and diplomacy" as a means of settling the crisis between Russia and Ukraine.
According to the Russian Embassy in India, Putin and PM Modi continue to communicate frequently, speaking over the phone once every two months. Additionally, the two leaders meet face-to-face. The two leaders had two meetings this year when PM Modi visited Moscow in July to attend the 22nd Russia-India summit.
In July, PM Modi made his first bilateral trip to Russia since taking office for the third time. In recognition of his efforts to strengthen India-Russia relations, PM Modi was also given "The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle," Russia's highest national honor.
From giving 'dost' PM Modi a loving embrace to driving an electric car for him, the leaders' relationship stole the show. PM Modi met with Putin informally as well as bilaterally while he was in Russia. The Rosatom Pavilion at the VDNKh Exhibition Centre in Moscow was another destination for the two leaders.
PM Modi traveled to Kazan, Russia, for two days in October to attend the BRICS Summit. He expressed gratitude to the Russian government, people, and President Vladimir Putin for their hospitality. PM Modi posted tidbits of his trip to Russia on X.
