One person is killed when an actor's car runs over workers on a Mumbai metro project.

According to the police, Urmila Kothare, the actor's driver, was behind the wheel of the fast-moving vehicle.

In Kandivli, Mumbai, a car belonging to a well-known Marathi actor ran over a laborer, killing one and seriously injuring another. The actor, who was coming from a shoot, and the driver of the automobile were also hurt.

Actor Urmila Kothare was heading home on Friday night after finishing a shot when her driver lost control of the vehicle and struck two laborers who were working on a Metro project close to the Poisar Metro station, according to the police. According to a police statement, one of the two laborers was killed instantly when the car ran them over, while the other was taken to the hospital. 

According to sources, the actor's life was spared because the airbag in the Hyundai Verna opened just in time while the vehicle was being driven at a high pace.

The motorist has been charged with reckless driving and causing death by negligence, among other offenses.
