Last week, the Cabinet approved the measure, which also aims to harmonize the elections of the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Puducherry, and the Delhi NCT.
According to the provisions, the actual simultaneous election procedure won't begin until 2034.
What is stated in the bill?
Midterm elections will only be scheduled to allow that legislature to finish the remaining five years of its term if the Lok Sabha or any state parliament is dissolved before the conclusion of its full term, according to a draft of the law that circulated on the evening of December 13.
