President-elect Donald Trump has given Ramaswamy and Tesla owner Elon Musk the responsibility of increasing government efficiency and eliminating unnecessary spending through a Department of Government Efficiency established specifically for that goal.

When novelist John LeFevre wrote about it on X, the Indian American exploded.

"The city of New York pays $220 million to rent the entire Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan to house illegal migrants," he stated.

The Pakistani government-owned airline Pakistan International Airlines is the owner of the Roosevelt Hotel.

"The hotel is owned by the government of Pakistan, and the deal was part of a $1.1 billion IMF bailout package to help Pakistan avoid defaulting on their international debt," LeFevre stated.

"Prior to this sweetheart deal, the hotel had been closed since 2020, having long-struggled with occupancy and in dire need of renovation," he stated.

The 19-story hotel, which bears the name of former US President Theodore Roosevelt, is currently rented by New York City to house undocumented immigrants. There are more than 1,200 rooms. Before New York City rented it out, the hotel was closed for renovations.
