When the ICC declared on Thursday that India would host the 50-over competition at a neutral location, the impasse over hosting the Champions Trophy was finally resolved.
The United Arab Emirates has been selected as the 2025 Champions Trophy's neutral venue, according to confirmation from the Pakistan Cricket Board. "The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been selected by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as the neutral venue for the 2025 Champions Trophy," PCB spokesperson Amir Mir told IANS."The ICC has been duly notified by the PCB of the neutral venue choice. The Champions Trophy matches between India and Pakistan will now take place in the United Arab Emirates. The host nation, Pakistan, was responsible for choosing the neutral location for the Champions Trophy. Following a discussion between Sheikh Al Nahyan and Mohsin Naqvi, the place was finally decided. The UAE Cricket Board's chairman is Sheikh Al Nahyan, who is presently in Pakistan," he continued.
The International Cricket Council's executive board affirmed Thursday that neutral venues will host India-Pakistan matches in all ICC events through 2027, including the Champions Trophy 2025 the following year.
The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 (hosted by India), the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 (hosted by India and Sri Lanka), and the forthcoming ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025 (hosted by Pakistan) will all be held in February and March of 2025. Additionally, it will be used for the 2028 ICC Women's T20 World Cup, which Pakistan has been granted the right to host.
India and Pakistan only participate in international competitions like the World Cup and Asia Cup because of their tense political ties. When Pakistan traveled to India for a five-match white-ball series in 2012–13, it was the last bilateral series between the two countries.
February and March of 2025 are the dates for the Champions Trophy. The main tournament's schedule will be finalized in the next few days, according to ICC. After defeating India by 180 runs in the 2017 event final at The Oval, Pakistan is the current reigning champion.
The last time the two teams faced each other was at the T20 World Cup in New York earlier this year, where India prevailed by six runs to win their second trophy in the competition.
