IMD Warning! These regions will see a dip in temperature starting on December 29; Punjab and Haryana are expected to have a foggy New Year.

IMD update: Temperatures in various parts of India are expected to decrease by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius starting on December 29. Punjab and Haryana have also been forecast to experience dense fog.

Temperatures in North West and Central India are expected to decrease starting on Sunday, December 29 as the year draws to a conclusion. As the New Year draws nearer, heavy fog is also expected to persist over Punjab and Haryana in the coming days.

In several areas of central and northwest India, we anticipate a steady drop in temperature of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. For the next two days, Punjab and Haryana should have dense to extremely dense fog. We anticipate cold weather today, particularly in the Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana regions," India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar told ANI.

The scientist did caution, though, that even though the temperatures will drop, they will eventually return to normal. Dr. Naresh Kumar further stated that Delhi is probably not currently under the influence of the cold wave.

The weather in Punjab is cold.
Because of the continuous rain on Saturday, the lowest temperature in Jalandhar, Punjab, was nine degrees Celsius on Sunday, December 29.

The recorded nighttime temperature was 7°C, but the daytime temperature fell to 15°C. The IMD reported that the nighttime temperature was 1.4°C and the daytime temperature was 3.3°C above normal.
