International Leaders Honor Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

On Thursday, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former prime minister, passed away at the age of 92 from age-related illnesses. The two-time former prime minister and the man behind India's economic reforms has received condolences from all throughout the world. His accomplishments and cordial ties with their countries have been emphasized by numerous world leaders.

Manmohan Singh is one of the "greatest champions" of the strategic partnership between the United States and India, according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

"We at the United States extend our deepest sympathies to the Indian people on the loss of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. One of the strongest supporters of the strategic alliance between the United States and India, Dr. Singh's efforts set the groundwork for much of what our nations have achieved together over the last 20 years. "A significant investment in the potential of the US-India relationship was demonstrated by his leadership in advancing the US-India Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement," Blinken added.

"Dr. Singh will be remembered at home for his economic reforms that fueled India's rapid economic growth," he continued. We lament Dr. Singh's loss and will never forget his commitment to strengthening ties between India and the United States."

Stephen Harper, Canada's former prime minister, expressed sorrow over Manmohan Singh's passing.

"I regret to inform you of the passing of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a former colleague of mine. He was a man of extraordinary insight, honesty, and brilliance. He posted on X, saying, "Laureen and I would like to express our condolences to all of his family and friends."

Dr. Singh was referred to as a "unwavering ally and friend to the people of Afghanistan" by former Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

"One of India's most distinguished sons has passed away. Dr. Manmohan Singh was a steadfast friend and ally of the Afghan people. I offer my sincere condolences to his family, the Indian government, and the Indian people in light of his demise. "May his soul rest in peace forever," he said.

Mohamed Nasheed, the former president of the Maldives, also offered condolences, stating, "I'm very sorry to learn that Manmohan Singh has died away. He was always a pleasure to work with and seemed like a kind father figure to me. The Maldives had a close friendship with him.

It is a time of deep sadness and loss for both Russia and India. Dr. Manmohan Singh made an incalculable contribution to our bilateral relations. His polished manner was always charming, and his knowledge of economics and dedication to India's development were undeniable," he remarked.

From 2004 to 2014, Manmohan Singh served two terms as prime minister of the United Progressive Alliance administration, which was led by the Congress.
