Adani Ports and SEZ placed an order for eight new tugboats from the Indian shipbuilder Cochin Shipyeard on December 27. According to the BSE filing, Adani Group plans to increase the number of tugboats in its fleet to 152 after the estimated delivery date upper limit of August 2028. Adani Ports and SEZ, through its subsidiary, Ocean Sparkle Limited, placed an order for eight tugboats from the Indian shipbuilding giant Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) on December 27. The BSE filing estimates the value of the order at ₹450 crore, placing it in the "Significant" category of orders worth between ₹200 and ₹500 crore.
Eight 70 T Bollard Pull ASD (Azimuthing Stern Drive) tugs will be delivered as part of the order by Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited, a CSL wholly-owned subsidiary.
The firm filing states that the tug deliveries are anticipated to begin in December 2026 and be finished by August 2028. As part of its plans to grow in the Indian marine sector, the business has ordered four tugs.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zones' stock ended Friday's trading session at ₹1,230.75, down 1.06 percent from the previous market finish of ₹1,243.90.
Conversely, Cochin Shipyard's stock ended the day 5% higher at ₹1,532.10, up from ₹1,459.15 at the close of the previous trading session. At the close of business hours on Friday, the company submitted the order book update on the Adani deal.
The new order for eight tugs coincides with the construction of three further tugs of the same grade for the Adani Group at the Udupi CSL. After delivery, the new order will increase Adani's fleet of tugboats to 152, according the filing data.
