Beginning in January 2025, WhatsApp will no longer function on these Android phones: Complete List

Beginning in January 2025, WhatsApp will no longer function on these Android phones

Because WhatsApp is introducing new features and AI support, older Android phones with outdated hardware are unable to use them.

Millions of Android phones running outdated versions of the operating system will no longer be able to use WhatsApp. As the Meta-owned platform develops and adds new features that require up-to-date hardware and operating systems, it keeps removing devices from its support list, including iPhones.

More than ten years have passed since the release of Android KitKat, and as of January 2025, the messaging app will no longer be supported on the Android version. Therefore, it's time to upgrade and purchase a new smartphone if you're still using an Android phone running the KitKat version so you can keep using WhatsApp.

The majority of people would wonder why anyone would still use a phone running the Android KitKat version, but WhatsApp's continued support for the OS indicates that it has found value in doing so. But that will alter permanently at the beginning of 2025, and people must also upgrade.

These Android Phones Cannot Use WhatsApp
Well-known manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Sony, and even HTC (can you remember them?) are on the list of phones that will no longer support WhatsApp as of January 1, 2025.

If you have items on any of these phones, it's time to back them up before January 1st. WhatsApp allows chat and data backup using your Google Drive storage.

These updates are often made by WhatsApp and are not exclusive to Android. WhatsApp must take earlier models off the list that no longer require their attention because the messaging software now supports a number of technologies, such as Meta AI, which requires the newest and most advanced hardware to function.
