According to the hybrid format, India's matches, including the one versus Pakistan, will take place in a neutral location, while Pakistan would host the majority of the matches.

Following months of negotiations between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the International Cricket Council (ICC) has finally declared that a hybrid format will be used to play the 2025 Champions Trophy. The rights to host the complete tournament in Pakistan were granted to PCB. However, citing security concerns, the BCCI informed the ICC that it would not send the Indian team to Pakistan. The ICC was able to reach a consensus between the PCB and BCCI on Thursday.

Speaking on Nadir Ali's podcast, Pakistani player Ahmed Shehzad criticized the Indian government and the BCCI after being asked to express his opinions on the subject.

According to Shehzad, the Indian government might still object if a stadium were constructed on the border that would allow both teams to enter from either end.

"Construct a stadium near the border. India should open one gate, while Pakistan should open the other. Our players can leave here, while their players can arrive from there. However, I believe there will be a problem with the Indian government or BCCI. Before the ICC announcement on Thursday, Shehzad asserted, "They'll say that we won't give your player a visa for that when he comes to the field on our side."

Shehzad believes PCB lost up on a fantastic chance to welcome the Indian squad in Pakistan.

"Pakistan had a fantastic opportunity to host India. In 2021, all cricket boards agreed to have Pakistan host the Champions Trophy. ICC is unable to retreat. PCB has lost the opportunity.
